Sal’s Response: I met Annie at her sister’s wedding after a couple of failed attempts to meet up in New York City. We both ending up moving back to Rochester, NY and the rest is history!Annie’s Response: After several failed attempts to be set up while we both lived in NYC, we finally met in person at my sister’s wedding. By that time, we had both moved to Rochester, and over the following year, destiny worked it’s magic!

Gerik and I have been together almost 4 years. In that time, he moved up from Castle Creek to Preble, where we’ve built a wonderful life together. We’ve had 2 beautiful children (Alexander and Colette), and live with our dogs Pierce and Mazie, and cats Lucy & Spice. It’s a full house and we are so lucky to be able to share our lives together. Gerik and I had an instant connection upon meeting in the fall of 2019. We went on to spend almost all of our free time together and got through Covid together. We’ve shared a mutual respect and love for each other and naturally try to make each other happy as often as we can. We spend a lot of time in nature and love to get outside with Letty and the dogs whenever we can. Much of our time has been spent exploring local waterfalls and state parks. I drag him to a beach every few months as well.
In 2021, we welcomed out son Alexander into the world. Our beautiful boy was with us for 4 months. He gave us such an appreciation for life and love and truly was the most incredible baby. When we lost him unexpectedly it broke our hearts. Somehow, with the help of each other and a loving support system we were able to get through much of that grief.
In 2023, we welcome Colette (Letty) into our lives. She has been an absolute joy and has helped heal our hearts in many ways. Our commitment to our family and to our future is what brought us to our wedding day. Our love story began in 2012, in Madrid, Spain (well in the JFK airport over a beer and a Diet Coke to be exact)…. As luck and perhaps fate would have it, we both signed up for a summer study abroad program through our Alma Mater, Syracuse University. Despite both attending SU only a year apart, we had never formally met on campus. We spent a great deal of time together that summer, becoming the best of friends (that tended to dance together and kiss from time to time) and creating unforgettable memories that we will cherish forever. Some of our favorites include: hanging out and chatting in the school courtyard (before Wes dozed off for his mid-day siestas), trying every sandwich at Cien Montaditos, dancing until the sun rose at Kapital nightclub (Emily somehow always ended up near the DJ Booth), searching for Wes’s wallet for an entire night after being pickpocketed, and traveling to Barcelona – a place we fell in love with and re-visited together 6 years later. Our romance continued to grow when we returned to Syracuse University. Whether it was a party at the hockey house, attending a basketball game, or going to the campus bar, Chucks, we always seemed to find each other. As we spent more time together, it was clear our chemistry and love for one another was blossoming into something special. Wes finally asked Emily on a first date (mini golfing), foreshadowing Wes’s future aspirations to be a good husband with a decent handicap. However, Emily would like it known it was SHE who got a hole in one on that first date. Together now for almost a decade, we have been through quite a journey of long distance, graduations and new careers. In the summer of 2020, we concluded our long distance journey and moved to Saratoga Springs, NY – a very special place we now call home, and where we continue to build amazing memories together.

Much like Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” our story is about a small town girl from Montana and a city boy from Boston. Although neither of us live in those places anymore, where we grew up, our upbringing and families is a huge part of why our relationship blossomed into what it is today.
