Exploring The World Together | Wolf Oak Acres | Oneida New York Wedding Film

What is your story?

A lot of our story has to do with our love of adventure and for each other and being together. When we graduated undergrad, Brett got a job still in the area so I could finish my graduate degree and we could be together. By the time I finished my masters degree, covid was in full swing. During covid, we bounced around from my parents house in Buffalo, NY, to his parents and his brother’s house in Austin, TX. We road tripped with our dog, Dasher, to Cape Cod, MA, Nashville, Austin, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. In 2021 while we were on our road trip in Colorado, Brett got a call that he got a job in Seattle. From Colorado, we drove to Washington with only the belongings we had in the car and got a place. Now living in Washington with a house and now two dogs, we travel around Washington hiking, camping, snowboarding, skiing and doing all the things we love. All of the things we’ve done have been done together.

How did the two of you meet?

We met in marketing class our first year at Niagara. Our very first actual interaction was when we had a substitute for one of the classes who made everyone in the class get up and introduce themselves to each other. Our following interactions were on how our cheat sheets for the tests looked. Somehow we got each other’s Snapchat and texted through there and finally met at a Halloween party, which is Emma’s favorite holiday. The following days we had our first date at Niagara Falls and Dennys and the relationship took off from there.

What was your favorite memory of your wedding day?

My favorite memory from the wedding day was probably being surrounded by our family and friends and everyone who loves us. Living in Washington hasn’t allowed us time to be with everyone as much as we used to and that time that we were able to spend together with them was meaningful for us. A lot of people on their wedding day always say they don’t spend a lot of time with their new husband/wife but we feel like we got to spend the majority of the time together which felt special.

What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, its location and your venue choice for your big day?

We are adventurous and outdoorsy people. The venue felt like it gave us that and the style and theme of more rustic/adventure I feel like brought out that aspect of us. Most of our families live in NY and MA so central NY was central for a lot of people. The venue itself was beautiful and we loved the rustic feel.

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?

Enjoy the day and spend as much time with your partner as possible.

What made you decide to hire a wedding videographer? Any tips for couples on the fence for a film?

We wanted to see the day alive again. Pictures are great because you can see how people were in that moment but a video really brings everyone lively again.
