Jess & Joe at The Marriot

January 17, 2020

How did the two of you meet?
We are high school sweethearts! We met through some mutual friends and the rest is history.

What happened the day they proposed? How did they do it?
He planned a winery tour with all of our friends and family. We all took 15 seater vehicle out to the Seneca wine trial and at our first stop he took me out on the terrace that overlooked the lake and vineyard and proposed in front of all of our closest family and friends! It was truly perfect.

What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, it’s location and your venue choice for your big day?
I always knew I wanted an elegant wedding, but I also wanted a fun and unique wedding tailored to Joe and me as a couple.

How did you approach wedding planning? did you use any computer systems, apps or social media?
Excel spreadsheets helped me stay organized. Especially with budgeting, deposits, balances, invites, responses, etc.

What made you decide to hire a wedding videographer?
Joe and I have been looking forward to our wedding day for what seems like forever. We have been together for 11 years and we knew we were going to want to relive this day in real time for the rest our of our lives.

Did you have any surprises for each other, or for your guests on your wedding day?
We had a surprise entrance as well as a surprise rock out session for our guests. They loved it!

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?
Stay organized, keep track of the conversations you had with vendors, and always follow up if you do not hear back from someone in a timely manner!

What were your favorite parts of your wedding day (or perhaps most memorable)?
Walking down the aisle was such a surreal and raw moment for me. Seeing the reaction of my husband as I was walking to him was a moment I will never forget. Also, our first dance together I just kept repeating can you believe we did it, were finally married!

Any advice for brides currently in the planning process?
There is no avoiding the stress. Some of us have been dreaming about this day for decades and we want it to be perfect and with that comes stress. Try to remember why you are planning your wedding in the first place. To showcase your love for one another in front of all those who love and support you. That will hopefully help alleviate some stress!

Anything else you would like to share?
We had the absolute time of our lives at our wedding. It was more than we could have ever imagined and we are so glad that we hired Gavin to capture all of our raw, candid, and special moments that we can relive over and over again for years to come!
