He Always Liked Me

Maria & Spencer

Jimbo’s Club at the Point | Brant Lake New York Wedding Film

In 2008, we went on a date to the movies. We remained friends throughout the years, always talking and especially sending happy birthday texts and calls each year. In 2017, Spencer invited Maria to attend a “snow day party” at his house in Morristown. Narrator: “There was no party, just his roommates and, like, one friend. The two of them were inseparable ever since.

How did you meet?

We met in high school through mutual friends, and became fast friends ourselves. We participated in the same club, hanging out on trips and took some classes together.

What was your favorite memory of your wedding day?

We absolutely loved how touched and emotional everyone felt throughout the day. Our main goal was to have a very “special” day, and to make sure our loved ones felt appreciated. Additionally, seeing all of our friends and family intermingle and hang out, some forming friendships of their own, brought us so much joy. Having all of our people in one room was overwhelming, but knowing that they also hit it off so well and had so much fun together was incredible!

What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, its location and your venue choice for your big day?

Our favorite place to get away has always been the Adirondacks. Over the years we’ve traveled all over the park with many of our family and friends, many getting dragged camping or on canoe trips (some more willingly dragged than others.)
When we thought about where we wanted to get married, we instantly thought of the special place we return to time and time again, and once we saw Jimbo’s Club at the Point specifically, knowing that we could house everybody on site and have it be just our crew for the whole weekend for some true quality time, we knew it would be perfect for a wedding that felt so completely “us”.

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?

Stay organized and keep things simple! We had 1 spreadsheet for the whole event so we weren’t constantly searching for files.
Figure out what feels most like YOU and go with your gut – do your thing and people will appreciate it. We went all in on personal touches and it was definitely noticed and so well-received, and in our opinion, more than worth the effort we put in.

What made you decide to hire a wedding videographer? Any tips for couples on the fence for a film?

The idea of capturing the day as it truly was, with commentary and emotion and laughs, is so exciting. We’ll always have a time capsule of our day and how we felt in the moment.

What did you like about working with me?

Gavin constantly checked in to make sure we were feeling comfortable with what we were being asked to do. He’s extremely easygoing and patient, and has a calm presence which was so necessary on a high-stress/excitement day. He was thorough and clear with his requests, thorough in the pre-wedding calls, and super kind.
