Gerik and I have been together almost 4 years. In that time, he moved up from Castle Creek to Preble, where we’ve built a wonderful life together. We’ve had 2 beautiful children (Alexander and Colette), and live with our dogs Pierce and Mazie, and cats Lucy & Spice. It’s a full house and we are so lucky to be able to share our lives together. Gerik and I had an instant connection upon meeting in the fall of 2019. We went on to spend almost all of our free time together and got through Covid together. We’ve shared a mutual respect and love for each other and naturally try to make each other happy as often as we can. We spend a lot of time in nature and love to get outside with Letty and the dogs whenever we can. Much of our time has been spent exploring local waterfalls and state parks. I drag him to a beach every few months as well.
In 2021, we welcomed out son Alexander into the world. Our beautiful boy was with us for 4 months. He gave us such an appreciation for life and love and truly was the most incredible baby. When we lost him unexpectedly it broke our hearts. Somehow, with the help of each other and a loving support system we were able to get through much of that grief.
In 2023, we welcome Colette (Letty) into our lives. She has been an absolute joy and has helped heal our hearts in many ways. Our commitment to our family and to our future is what brought us to our wedding day. Anthony and I have been together over 8 years. We tried to get married last year but, you know COVID. So in January we finally had enough and we ran off to the Adirondacks and we eloped. Even though that day was perfect shared just between Anthony and I (and a photographer to get all the sappy moments) it wasn’t the same without our family and friends around. So here we are a few months later doing this whole thing again surrounded by all the people we love.

A lot of our story has to do with our love of adventure and for each other and being together. When we graduated undergrad, Brett got a job still in the area so I could finish my graduate degree and we could be together. By the time I finished my masters degree, covid was in full swing. During covid, we bounced around from my parents house in Buffalo, NY, to his parents and his brother’s house in Austin, TX. We road tripped with our dog, Dasher, to Cape Cod, MA, Nashville, Austin, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. In 2021 while we were on our road trip in Colorado, Brett got a call that he got a job in Seattle. From Colorado, we drove to Washington with only the belongings we had in the car and got a place. Now living in Washington with a house and now two dogs, we travel around Washington hiking, camping, snowboarding, skiing and doing all the things we love. All of the things we’ve done have been done together.

SUNY Oneonta is where it all began. In 2016, we became fast friends. While we were there, we both learned about our adventurous and creative sides. These were the things we learned to love most about each other.
In 2018, we packed up our belongings and moved cross country to Los Angeles. While we were in L.A., we got to explore the vast beauty that California had to offer, while both flourish within our respective careers. While we were there, we adopted our dog, Shelby Cobra Maranga-Jacobson (yes after the car).
In 2021, after a long evening of Mexican food and too much California sun, we got engaged. A few months later we packed up our bright Orange Subaru and moved back east to Atlanta, GA.
Ever since becoming friends in 2016, we have not lost our adventurous and creative sparks. We frequently explore new areas and try new hobbies. On July 31st, 2022, we officially became Mr. & Mrs. Maranga-Jacobson, which was our most creative and exciting adventure yet. We met on a dating app in August of 2019 and went on our first date at Old School Bar & Restaurant. We both felt an instant spark and were constantly laughing during the date. We made plans to get together the next day and the day after that. Early on in our relationship, we found out that our great grandparents & grandparents were friends back in the day which is something truly special and meaningful to us. After a little more than a year dating, we moved into a house together and added a golden retriever, Waylon, to our family. In December of 2021, Chris proposed while decorating our Christmas Tree & listening to Taylor Swift. On January 21st 2023 we officially became Mr. & Mrs. Christopher Broccoli!
