Your Love Changed My Life | Greek Peak Mountain Resort | Cortland New York Wedding Film

What is your story?

Gerik and I have been together almost 4 years. In that time, he moved up from Castle Creek to Preble, where we’ve built a wonderful life together. We’ve had 2 beautiful children (Alexander and Colette), and live with our dogs Pierce and Mazie, and cats Lucy & Spice. It’s a full house and we are so lucky to be able to share our lives together. Gerik and I had an instant connection upon meeting in the fall of 2019. We went on to spend almost all of our free time together and got through Covid together. We’ve shared a mutual respect and love for each other and naturally try to make each other happy as often as we can. We spend a lot of time in nature and love to get outside with Letty and the dogs whenever we can. Much of our time has been spent exploring local waterfalls and state parks. I drag him to a beach every few months as well.
In 2021, we welcomed out son Alexander into the world. Our beautiful boy was with us for 4 months. He gave us such an appreciation for life and love and truly was the most incredible baby. When we lost him unexpectedly it broke our hearts. Somehow, with the help of each other and a loving support system we were able to get through much of that grief.
In 2023, we welcome Colette (Letty) into our lives. She has been an absolute joy and has helped heal our hearts in many ways. Our commitment to our family and to our future is what brought us to our wedding day.  We are looking forward to many more joy filled days as we continue to build memories together.

How did the two of you meet?

Gerik and I met on a dating app called Hinge on Sept 6th, 2019.

What was your favorite memory of your wedding day?

Favorite memories include our 1st look, seeing Letty in her cute outfit, being with our friends and family. It was also really nice to hear from my Dad in his speech and to have our 1st and last dance alone.

What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, its location and your venue choice for your big day?

Our style of the wedding was meant to be colorful and joyful. We wanted to embrace the beauty of the location and add special touches that were unique to us. Greek Peak is close to us and many of Lora’s family so it made sense to have our wedding only 20min from our home. We chose a July wedding so we could enjoy the summer weather and hopefully get some beautiful, bright photos/video of our day (which we lucked out on!).

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?

Get a babysitter if you have kids.
Don’t worry about decor, people care about music & food.
Book your vendors early!
Have a shot list of what you want captured for photos/video
Spend time with spouses friends, we didn’t and I regret it a lot.
Hold hands throughout the reception or you will be separated for an hour

What made you decide to hire a wedding videographer? Any tips for couples on the fence for a film?

We asked friends what they wished they had done and what they wasted money on. The biggest wish our friends had, was they wanted a videographer and hadn’t gotten one. The biggest wasted expense was too much money on flowers.
