It all started in 2015.
A true modern day love story that started with a simple “swipe right” on a well-known dating app.
Nick and Annie were both in college at the time; Nick attending Utica College and Annie attending Le Moyne College in Syracuse. That night, Nick was in Syracuse shopping and stumbled upon Annie’s profile and just like the name of the mall Nick was at, it was “destiny” that their paths crossed.
After a few weeks of getting to know each other, Nick found himself back in Syracuse taking Annie out on their first date. It was an immediate connection; the guy that everyone describes as quiet couldn’t stop talking with Annie. Both knew this was something special, but had no idea just how incredible it would become!
Annie and Nick began a relationship that was built on the foundation of friendship, trust, and true love. Through everything life threw at them, they were by each other’s side. They experienced the highest highs and lowest lows together and continued to grow as individuals and as a couple.
They went on so many adventures where life-long memories were made. From Boston to San Diego, Annie and Nick have truly have been blessed to experience it all. Nick has shared with Annie his love of the Red Sox and Raiders and Annie taught him that no meal is complete without dessert!
After a cross country drive in Annie’s Jeep with their two English Bulldogs, Coco and Chanel, in the backseat, Nick and Annie found themselves in California; first in Santa Barbara and, a year later, in San Diego. It was here that Nick asked Annie’s dad for his blessing, got down on one knee and asked Annie to marry him! Just when they thought they couldn’t love each other anymore, they began preparing for husband and wife and felt their love and bond grow even stronger!
Nick and Annie are soulmates; the ying to the other’s yang. Where one lacks, the other provides. When one is down, the other is lifting them up. We met on an app and quickly began sending lengthy messages to each other throughout each day. We decided that for our first date we would meet up for a hike (Mt Severance in Schroon Lake, NY). From that first date forward we both knew there was something special and different about one another and before we knew it we were spending every weekend with one another. We would take turns driving the 2.5 hours to and from one another’s residences (Emily in Indian Lake, NY and Kristen in Burlington, VT). We did this for just under two years before taking the next step. After Kristen graduated with her Master’s degree, she moved to Blue Mountain Lake, NY to live with Emily. Shortly after the move, Kristen got her dream job in Indian Lake, NY as a mental health counselor. We got engaged in January 2020 (Emily proposed first) and spent the next year and a half planning our dream wedding. We are so unbelievably happy to be Mrs. And Mrs. Wade!

Our love story began in 2012, in Madrid, Spain (well in the JFK airport over a beer and a Diet Coke to be exact)…. As luck and perhaps fate would have it, we both signed up for a summer study abroad program through our Alma Mater, Syracuse University. Despite both attending SU only a year apart, we had never formally met on campus. We spent a great deal of time together that summer, becoming the best of friends (that tended to dance together and kiss from time to time) and creating unforgettable memories that we will cherish forever. Some of our favorites include: hanging out and chatting in the school courtyard (before Wes dozed off for his mid-day siestas), trying every sandwich at Cien Montaditos, dancing until the sun rose at Kapital nightclub (Emily somehow always ended up near the DJ Booth), searching for Wes’s wallet for an entire night after being pickpocketed, and traveling to Barcelona – a place we fell in love with and re-visited together 6 years later. Our romance continued to grow when we returned to Syracuse University. Whether it was a party at the hockey house, attending a basketball game, or going to the campus bar, Chucks, we always seemed to find each other. As we spent more time together, it was clear our chemistry and love for one another was blossoming into something special. Wes finally asked Emily on a first date (mini golfing), foreshadowing Wes’s future aspirations to be a good husband with a decent handicap. However, Emily would like it known it was SHE who got a hole in one on that first date. Together now for almost a decade, we have been through quite a journey of long distance, graduations and new careers. In the summer of 2020, we concluded our long distance journey and moved to Saratoga Springs, NY – a very special place we now call home, and where we continue to build amazing memories together.

We met at Ohio State when we were both still in college after being good friends for our second and third years – despite Matt moving to Arizona for work after graduation and Cassandra moving home to Philadelphia for law school, we made it work and eventually Matt joined the Dulas in Pennsylvania. After Cassandra graduated from law school, she had a job offer in London and Matt in his infinite flexibility said, “Let’s do it!” A year after moving we got engaged and two years after that we had our big day!
