My Best Friend | Traditions At The Links | Syracuse New York Wedding Film | Lindsay and Tim

What is your story?

We are a result of incredible match-making skills! Almost 3 months after I started working at Lockheed Martin, a mutual friend, Annie Franks, had worked her magic and got us both to agree to meeting. That day, there was a fire drill at work and Annie ends up pointing saying “that’s him!” She ends up going to talk to Tim after and comes rushing back saying “He said he’ll message you tonight on Facebook!” By the end of the work day, he did exactly that! We talked all night and continuously since. We had our first date 7 days later on October 18th, 2019 and decided on going to the MOST Museum and dinner at the Cheesecake Factory at Destiny USA.

Although we may be opposites, we prove that they attract! Our love and time together the past 2+ years have been nothing short of fun and adventurous. We love the beach and decided on a trip to Clearwater Beach and Orlando the beginning of May of 2021. The original plan for a cruise was changed thanks to the pandemic, but, by the second day at Clearwater Beach, we find ourselves all dressed up on top of a sand bank watching the sun set. It had the tall grass and palm trees to make an incredible scene. As we get to the top, we notice about 15 ft. away was a homeless man in the tall grass covered in a blanket sleeping (so we did have a witness LOL!). After I snapped a picture on the beach, I turn around with the sight of Tim kneeling with a ring box in front of this amazing sunset.

How did the two of you meet?

Our mutual friend, Annie Franks, was our matchmaker and set us up!

What was your favorite memory of your wedding day?

My favorite memory was walking down the aisle to see my love waiting for me, to then put my hand in his, and stare into his loving eyes.

What were the main influences behind the style of your wedding, its location and your venue choice for your big day?

I’ve always wanted a whimsical, enchanted forest, fairy-like wedding as I love nature and a little bit of magic. Since that wasn’t going to be an option, I chose a more Romantic Garden theme as that has always been one of my favorites that ties into the whimsical aspect. And our venue had not only a beautiful outdoor ceremony space with a beautiful, white pergola that stood in front of a beautiful pond, fountain, and manicured golf course. That golf course just so happened to be where my late Uncle used to go golfing. So it was a sentimental way of having him included in our wedding.

What would your top tips be for somebody planning their wedding?

GET. A. WEDDING. PLANNER/COORDINATOR. Especially if you work long hours and are constantly busy day-to-day. Getting a wedding planner binder from Barnes & Noble certainly helped a lot, but it makes a HUGE difference having a professional who knows how to coordinate with all of your vendors, venue, and all the tiny aspects day-of so you won’t have to worry about anything. My tie for #1 tip would be to get a videographer, and invest in a good one! The day is so fleeting and memories fade with age and time. Having a wedding video to look back on and a videographer who is talented enough to capture the essence of the day and all of the feelings you felt, is priceless. Worth any and all price! I would also say after all the planning, make sure you just go with the flow day-of. Something ALWAYS goes wrong, it’s inevitable. Just go with the flow and enjoy the day before it flies by! You and possibly only your parent(s) and spouse would notice something off or missing. I promise nobody else will notice so no need to get yourself stressed out! Just remember the main reason for the event, you finally get to marry the person you love and you get to share that love with your favorite people who support you both.

What made you decide to hire a wedding videographer? Any tips for couples on the fence for a film?

The day is so fleeting and memories fade with age and time. Having a wedding video to look back on and a videographer who is talented enough to capture the essence of the day and all of the feelings you felt, is priceless. Worth any and all price! Really do your research and look at past videos a videographer has made and make sure their videography and editing style suits you best. Luckily, I was able to get the best of the best – Gavin!

Anything else you would like to share?

It’s so easy to get caught up in the planning process and wanting everything to be as you’ve always dreamed of. Keep reflecting back on the reason why you’re getting married. At the end of the day, that is single-handedly the most important thing. Everything else is secondary and a bonus. Those who truly love and support you will enjoy and appreciate everything you have put into the big day. Also remember, it’s you and your partner’s day. The hardest part is to have so many opinions from friends and family and trying to take them all into consideration, especially if you are a people pleaser. Always go with what you and your partner want and you’ll never regret it! No matter if it’s family members that disagree with you, kindly advise you will take their advice and suggestions and mull them over. At the end of the day, it’s what the two of you want and that should be respected!
