We met on an app and quickly began sending lengthy messages to each other throughout each day. We decided that for our first date we would meet up for a hike (Mt Severance in Schroon Lake, NY). From that first date forward we both knew there was something special and different about one another and before we knew it we were spending every weekend with one another. We would take turns driving the 2.5 hours to and from one another’s residences (Emily in Indian Lake, NY and Kristen in Burlington, VT). We did this for just under two years before taking the next step. After Kristen graduated with her Master’s degree, she moved to Blue Mountain Lake, NY to live with Emily. Shortly after the move, Kristen got her dream job in Indian Lake, NY as a mental health counselor. We got engaged in January 2020 (Emily proposed first) and spent the next year and a half planning our dream wedding. We are so unbelievably happy to be Mrs. And Mrs. Wade!
After ten years of dating, we exchanged vows and rings in the company of our closest friends and family on September 19, 2021. Our commitment to one another is to make the most of this life we share, for each of us and for both of us.
Much like Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” our story is about a small town girl from Montana and a city boy from Boston. Although neither of us live in those places anymore, where we grew up, our upbringing and families is a huge part of why our relationship blossomed into what it is today.
From ski trips to cruises, nights in cuddling the puppy, or hanging out in the lake, the adventures have been endless. Eric actually invited me on his annual sibling ski trip a month after knowing me. It was on this annual ski trip, two years later when Eric got down on one knee at the Domain Chandon winery in Napa, CA, and asked me to marry him. After laughing in his face because I didn’t think it was real, I said yes. From there, we started planning for a wedding in September 2020. As we all know how that played out, we had to postpone our big event. We decided that we would still get married surrounded by close family and friends and on our one-year anniversary host the wedding we had dreamed of and planned. Now two weddings, and one anniversary later we cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together with our wonderful puppy Ollivander. I think everyone is glad they don’t have to hear about it anymore considering this event has been in the making since January 2019 (kidding – but seriously, it was a very extended wedding planning process).
When we began officially dating we were long distance and splitting time between Boston and New York City, but it was pretty clear pretty quick that this was a forever thing. I transferred to my company’s New York office and we moved in together in Brooklyn Heights in 2017. We added a roommate to our cozy one bedroom on Sidney Place a year later – Hudson! Hudson is the sweetest and largest cavalier king Charles spaniel. We had a wonderful three years in the city, before the madness of March 2020 motivated us to move upstate to my hometown. On our original wedding weekend in 2020 we ended up buying a lot in Ballston Spa (just 10 minutes from where we would say I do in 2021!) and started building our home. The rest of our story is yet to be written!
Anthony and I have been together over 8 years. We tried to get married last year but, you know COVID. So in January we finally had enough and we ran off to the Adirondacks and we eloped. Even though that day was perfect shared just between Anthony and I (and a photographer to get all the sappy moments) it wasn’t the same without our family and friends around. So here we are a few months later doing this whole thing again surrounded by all the people we love.
Growing up down the street from one another we have always been a part of each other’s lives. From riding the same school bus together in 3rd grade to slow dancing at our 8th grade dance, there always seemed to be a spark between us. When high school rolled around, we had every class together and quickly became inseparable best friends. In college, although it seemed we had moved in separate directions, we found ourselves in the same city. There was always something pulling us together, whether we knew it or not. After reconnecting, reminiscing, and many belly laughs later, we realized we found friendship and love in the same person. We were always meant to be in each other’s lives and definitely more than just friends. We spent our first two years together in Skaneateles (our favorite town!) and weathered two years of long distance eventually landing us in Stamford, CT. One wiener dog later and so many amazing memories together, we are so excited to be married! This is just the beginning of our journey together, and we know now more than ever that we were destined to be together.
We met at the bar, The Bullet. At the end of the night, Steve & his friend gave me & my friend a ride home. Then lost touch for a few months, reconnected on Varick St., & the rest is history.
