Tinder in the middle of the pandemic! It was all magic.
I first heard about Justin through a mutual friend on campus at Notre Dame. After we met, we started dating about one year later and did two years of long distance dating after college before I moved to Charlotte to be with him! We got engaged in December 2018 and planned to get married in July 2020, but COVID forced us to postpone twice. We waited over 1,000 days to get married – it was so worth it!
The short story is – at a Halloween Party. We started dating a few months later, in January of 2020, and became inseparable shortly after- literally, we quarantined together after 3 months of dating, then “officially” moved in with one another in September of the same year. And by that I mean Will finally gave up the Fidi apartment we first met in since we had been living together at my place in Astoria since March when lockdown first began.
Lindsay and Brian grew up in the same town, went to the same school, were friends with the same families — Brian with the older siblings, Lindsay the younger. Despite sitting in the same stands, walking the same halls, and running in the same circles… they never met. After high school, they went away to college and went on to live in different towns. In 2020, in the midst of global challenges and abundant change, Lindsay’s company went remote, allowing her to permanently work from home. And home she went, not to a small apartment near the city where she’d spent the last several years, but back home to the place she’d grown up — where Brian too lived. Not expecting to find love, chance would have them starting the new year, 2021, talking to one another. Small talk and texts led to hours spent over food and drinks, puppy playdates, walks in the park, and before they knew it, they had fallen in love. They blended their families, each bringing a dog in tow, and moved in together. Since then they’ve made countless memories, made a house a home, celebrated birthdays, weddings, and births of those they love. And now they couldn’t be more excited to celebrate their happily ever after surrounded by family and friends. So here’s to new chapters with old friends and big love found in small towns.

Ben grew up in Bradford, PA and Holly grew up in Cazenovia, NY. When Holly was in her senior year at St. Bonaventure University, the owner of a marketing agency in Bradford reached out looking for writers to intern. Holly took the gig, and in May of 2018 moved to Bradford full-time to work at the agency after graduating. In July, one of Holly’s bosses (sensing her friendlessness after moving) invited her to a Fourth of July picnic at Allegany State Park with his family and friends. Lo and behold, that boss was Ben’s brother, Josh. We met that fateful day and began to form a friendship.
In the years following, our friendship grew as we made a lot of fun memories together. [It is here we must importantly mention how almost all of these lifelong memories included having Ben’s sister, Heather, by our side. Those priceless years of non-stop fun and trips and traditions are something we wouldn’t trade for the whole world, and we’re so lucky to have Heather in our lives.] We began to swap interests as we spent more time together — Ben’s infectious love of professional wrestling and campy slashers rubbed off on Holly, and Holly taught Ben about the world of great wine and getting beat in Spades.
In late 2020, our connection became irrefutable. When we were in a room together, it was like two magnets. We began dating and building our future. After we moved in together, it was so fun to explore the new interests that arose: We began an annual vegetable garden and learned new recipes to cook with our harvest, we adopted Wilson and nursed him from death’s door to full health, we re-discovered our mutual love of reading and got library cards.
On July 24, 2021 Ben proposed to Holly at 5:00 AM after we jumped into Willow Bay together at sunrise. On that day, we were hosting a seafood boil party for both of our families so that everyone could meet for the first time. We got to bask in the feeling of being newly engaged surrounded by our family and close friends.
On October 14, 2022 we got married and couldn’t be more excited to start our lives together as a little family — us and our two cats, Wilson and Wasabi.
