We met on a dating app in August of 2019 and went on our first date at Old School Bar & Restaurant. We both felt an instant spark and were constantly laughing during the date. We made plans to get together the next day and the day after that. Early on in our relationship, we found out that our great grandparents & grandparents were friends back in the day which is something truly special and meaningful to us. After a little more than a year dating, we moved into a house together and added a golden retriever, Waylon, to our family. We met at Ohio State when we were both still in college after being good friends for our second and third years – despite Matt moving to Arizona for work after graduation and Cassandra moving home to Philadelphia for law school, we made it work and eventually Matt joined the Dulas in Pennsylvania. After Cassandra graduated from law school, she had a job offer in London and Matt in his infinite flexibility said, “Let’s do it!” A year after moving we got engaged and two years after that we had our big day!

A lot of our story has to do with our love of adventure and for each other and being together. When we graduated undergrad, Brett got a job still in the area so I could finish my graduate degree and we could be together. By the time I finished my masters degree, covid was in full swing. During covid, we bounced around from my parents house in Buffalo, NY, to his parents and his brother’s house in Austin, TX. We road tripped with our dog, Dasher, to Cape Cod, MA, Nashville, Austin, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. In 2021 while we were on our road trip in Colorado, Brett got a call that he got a job in Seattle. From Colorado, we drove to Washington with only the belongings we had in the car and got a place. Now living in Washington with a house and now two dogs, we travel around Washington hiking, camping, snowboarding, skiing and doing all the things we love. All of the things we’ve done have been done together.

From ski trips to cruises, nights in cuddling the puppy, or hanging out in the lake, the adventures have been endless. Eric actually invited me on his annual sibling ski trip a month after knowing me. It was on this annual ski trip, two years later when Eric got down on one knee at the Domain Chandon winery in Napa, CA, and asked me to marry him. After laughing in his face because I didn’t think it was real, I said yes. From there, we started planning for a wedding in September 2020. As we all know how that played out, we had to postpone our big event. We decided that we would still get married surrounded by close family and friends and on our one-year anniversary host the wedding we had dreamed of and planned. Now two weddings, and one anniversary later we cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together with our wonderful puppy Ollivander. I think everyone is glad they don’t have to hear about it anymore considering this event has been in the making since January 2019 (kidding – but seriously, it was a very extended wedding planning process).
