We each were our what if people in our lives 20 years ago, that came to be 12 years ago. Our lives have not been the same since. Daniel and I met 20 years ago at my college when he came to visit his twin brother. He and I exchanged wash’s to stay in contact but he very quickly became my what if guy. As I his what if girl. Charlie and I met post-college (even though we went to the same college and graduated the same year). We had plenty of mutual friends, so we were destined to meet at one point or another. We initially met in August of 2018, started officially dating in January of 2019, and have been inseparable every since! We have been through amazing highs and the lowest of lows together, which really makes us each other’s rocks. We got engaged December 2022, bought our first home together in Austin, Texas in March 2023 and adopted our pup Tweety shortly after in October! The three of us are a happy little family living out our happy Texas lives rooting on our Texas Longhorns any chance we get.

We have spent a lot of time apart in our relationship. Because of this, when we do get to be together, we really enjoy doing typical day to day things…grocery shopping, making dinner, goofing around, watching our favorite tv shows (the office, great British baking show, criminal minds, and planet earth), going to our families houses for dinner, and harassing our cat, Charlie. We know that our relationship has been so successful is because we completely trust each other and have never doubted the commitment of the other to our relationship. This is something we felt initially when Pat would travel for work, and I was stuck in Troy working on my degree and even now as I’m still stuck in Troy and Pat is working on his degree in New Hampshire. We have encouraged each other to make choices that allow us to be the best version of ourselves and reach for our goals even though it kept us apart. We both fully believe in delayed gratification and are excited that our marriage marks the beginning of our life together (in the same location too).

Jon and I were “the” high school sweethearts. We went to all of our proms and school events together, he taught me how to drive a car, I helped him graduate high school (lol). Jon was there for me during all my treatments for my Crohn’s disease. We have done everything together from going to dinner to going on family vacations together.

A lot of our story has to do with our love of adventure and for each other and being together. When we graduated undergrad, Brett got a job still in the area so I could finish my graduate degree and we could be together. By the time I finished my masters degree, covid was in full swing. During covid, we bounced around from my parents house in Buffalo, NY, to his parents and his brother’s house in Austin, TX. We road tripped with our dog, Dasher, to Cape Cod, MA, Nashville, Austin, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. In 2021 while we were on our road trip in Colorado, Brett got a call that he got a job in Seattle. From Colorado, we drove to Washington with only the belongings we had in the car and got a place. Now living in Washington with a house and now two dogs, we travel around Washington hiking, camping, snowboarding, skiing and doing all the things we love. All of the things we’ve done have been done together.
